Dr Marie Berne is Senior Research Assistant in the European Studies Programme. She joined the University of Hong Kong in 2009.

Profile:
Dr Berne holds a PhD in French and Comparative Literature from the University of British Columbia. She also holds an MA in Lettres Modernes from the Université B. Pascal in Clermond-Ferrand. Her research interests are comparative literature and art, European philosophy, and cultural developments in Europe and Hispano-America. She teaches on the topic of European identity and on the Modern European Lifestyle. She also works on two European Studies textbooks - one about the Foundations of Europe and one about different forms of national and European identity. Dr Berne speaks French and Spanish.
